we need a composite fibre cable - with 4 fibres and 2 electrical conductors. We were using a US manufacturer, but I am wondering if we should also get a quote from a Chinese manufacturer. Do you have any cable manufacturing companies that you deal with?

MANDATORY ------------- => 2 copper conductors - the gauge will be either AWG12, 14, 16, or 18. Once the engineering decision is made, we will only purchase one gauge of electrical conductor. The engineering decision is based on the resistance of the conductors. If you could supply the expected resistance per metre for each of the nominated gauges we can make that engineering decision. => Absolutely minimum inductance on the electrical conductors (inductance is the enemy of Intrinsically Safe system designs). There are several techniques for reducing inductance, such as the use of multiple electrical conductors placed opposite to each other, etc ... If you could supply the inductance per metre of your standard cables for the gauges above, and also the minimum inductance we may be able to achieve with special construction techniques, that will allow us to make the required engineering decisions. => 4 single mode fibres => We only require one cable design - the multiple gauges were only requested to allow us to do the calculations on the gauge that we will specify => We expect 200km per annum from the US market, 50km from the Australian market. => We are aiming for an outer diameter of around 8mm so that it is easy to work with and fits on reasonably sized reels => To be used in underground mining so must have the corresponding robustness for that environment => MSHA ... ?

HIGHLY DESIRABLE --------------------- => The ability to purchase the cable in either 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 250m, 300m, 350m, 400m, 500m, 700m lengths pre-reeled with 2 (of the 4) fibres terminated to SC connectors with a 300mm tail, the electrical conductors terminated to 80mm lengths and shipped with protective sleeves around them. If this is not possible, we would purchase in 500m and 700m rolls.
